Halvor Brustad's background as a document and handwriting examiner spans more than two decades. He has a solid foundation from NCIS, where he worked from 1996 to 2013. As a handwriting examiner with experience from NCIS, he has specialized in document analysis and authenticity assessmentsHe has expertise from recognized international institutions. This includes the National Forensic Laboratory in Linköping, Sweden. He also has education from Grenzschutzdirektion in Koblenz, Germany, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa, Canada.
During his time at NCIS, he held key roles that shaped his expertise as a document examiner. He was responsible for the laboratory in the Document and Handwriting Section. He played a key role in the accreditation of the section's methods in accordance with NS-ISO 17025. As the training manager for the four-year education of document and handwriting examiners at Kripos (2008-2012) and as an audit leader, he developed a deep understanding of quality assurance and methodology.
His technical background is a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and Production. He also completes a master's program in Technology Management and Digital Transformation at NTNU, where he wrote a thesis on the digitization of handwriting analysis. This gives him unique insights into modern document analysis. His experience as a senior engineer in the Norwegian Armed Forces Logistics Organization (2013-2020) strengthened his analytical approach.
As a private document and handwriting examiner since 2020, he continues to provide reliable analyses. His analyses are based on international experience. This includes participation in ENFSI proficiency tests and Nordic and European conferences. His experience with NCIS Norway ensures the highest quality in all assignments.
